About Rosemont-
Mr. Manko currently teaches at Rosemont/Elementary Middle School in Baltimore city, Maryland. Rosemont is one of Baltimore City's most outstanding educational environments as evidenced by its outstanding test scores, supportive cadre of faculty members, and wonderful students. Rosemont is one of the few zone-charter schools within the Baltimore City Public School System. A zone-charter is school that retains greater flexibility in curricular decisions, but is required to accept every student that is zoned for the school. Rosemont boasts a variety of campus partnerships including a close relationship with its charter school operator, Coppin State University. Other Rosemont partnerships include partner programs with US Fish and Wildlife and the National Aeronautics Space Administration (NASA).

Mr. Manko's Education-
Mr. Manko completed his undergraduate schooling at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) where he double majored in history and political science and minored in education. He was also a five year member of the Office of Residential Life Staff, Chairman of the Board for the Associated Students of UCLA, and president of the Student Alumni Association. Mr. Manko also spent three month studying abroad in Johannesburg and Pretoria, South Africa during the summer of 1998.

 

 
After completing his education at UCLA, Mr. Manko moved to Baltimore, Maryland to teach and continue his education at the prestigious Johns Hopkins University. In 2004 he completed his first masters degree in Teaching and in 2006 obtained a second masters degree in Education with dual certifications in Administration and Supervision and Instructional Technology.
 
   
Mr. Manko is currently enrolled in a doctoral program at the University of Maryland, College Park in educational leadership and school policy. He hopes to one day use his experience in the classroom and educational background to work towards resolving the educational inequities that exsist in public schools throughout America.

University Instruction -
Mr. Manko has recently taken a position as an adjunct professor at Towson State University. He teaches one class on Tuesday evenings entitled Issues and Concepts in Education, that explores the development, implementation, and evolution of the No Child Left Behind Act.

In the spring of 2002, Mr. Manko completed his electronic portfolio, a compilation of some of the teaching material he had created and used during his first and second year of teaching. The electronic portfolio displays a wide range of work, falling within ten domains, which have been identified as important to creating an outstanding classroom environment.
